It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is now brought to you by Sheila from One Person’s Journey Through A World of Books!

I started off the week with The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner.   I’ve been intrigued by books surrounding the French Revolution.  But, the last one was just ok.   Apparently what I needed was one of more fictional basis and young adult.   It was a fast read and I thought it was great.

I read The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan next.  It’s the 4th book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series.  While it was still a good book, I felt like it was lacking something.  Not my favorite of the series.

I finished the week with Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke.  I was excited for this book because I really loved Inkspell.  I still loved the characters and story development in this one.  My problem was it just seemed too long.  I think there was too much tedious details and dialog.

I’m going to start Fire by Kristin Cashore tonight.  I’m so excited for this book because I loved Graceling!  I’m expecting two books from Around the World Tours this week, so I’ll have to read those instead of the other two I had planned (that’s not a bad thing though).   So that will be Angel Star by Jennifer Murgia and Hearts at Stake by Alyxandra Harvery.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is now brought to you by Sheila from One Person’s Journey Through A World of Books!

I’m amazed that I managed to get 3 books in last week.  Granted it didn’t hurt that my last book was a fast read and I couldn’t sleep last night.

I started the week with a book from Around the World Tours that I’ve been dieing to read!   It was Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves.   Let’s just say that this book was crazy.   I enjoyed it, but it’s not for everybody.

I decided to chug along with Voyager by Diana Gabaldon next.  I’m so glad that I did.  I’m debating if I may have liked it more than Outlander.  Probably not, but it’s a close second!

I started and finished The Mark by Jen Nadol yesterday.  It was a really fast read for me.  I really liked it.  Much better than my recent read that had the same sort of idea.

I’m not currently reading anything at the moment.  I will start something today.   I haven’t decided yet which order to read them, but my plan is to read The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner, Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke, and The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan this week.

Hope you have a great reading week!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is now brought to you by Sheila from One Person’s Journey Through A World of Books!

I spent the week working on my series challenge.

I started off the week with Inkspell by Cornelia Funke.  I wasn’t sure what I would think of this book because I thought Inkheart was just okay.  I was extremely surprised how much I liked this one.  I will look forward to book three.

My next book was  The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan.  I’m really enjoying this series so far.  I think this one is my favorite so far.  I really enjoy watching the characters grow.

My last read was The Van Alen Legacy.  I’m not sure what I think of this one.  I found the alternating narratives very distracting.

I’m currently reading Voyager by Diana Gabaldon, but I will put it aside for Bleeding Violet by Dia Reeves when it gets here.   I will also read The Red Necklace  by Sally Gardner.  I haven’t decided if I will read anything else, but I may try to finish Voyager instead of my original plan.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is now brought to you by Sheila from One Person’s Journey Through A World of Books!

Last week I decided to read completely from my shelves.  Since I could not make up my mind what I wanted to read, I used Random.org to choose for me.  Since the website was kind enough to choose larger books, I only managed to get 3 read.  I did have to sneak in a book from Around The World Tours in there though!

I read The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette by Carolly Erickson first.  While I enjoyed the diary format of the book, it was just ok.  I felt like the book ignored all the “bad” things surrounding Antoinette and glamorize her.  I will be looking for more book about her to see how she is portrayed differently.

My book for Around the World Tours was Magic Under Glass by Jaclyn Dolamore.  Great new author and I recommend this story to anyone who likes young adult books.

My last book of the week was The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown.  I was really looking forward to this book (I loved The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons).  While it wasn’t a let down, I felt it was a bit heavy handed at times.  The revelation didn’t hold as much truth to at as the past two novels.  Although, I have to say the book made me really want to visit Washington D.C.!

I’m currently reading I, Elizabeth by Rosalind Miles.  I love books about Queen Elizabeth I, but this book starts out really slow.  It’s finally starting to pick up.  I also plan on reading Numbers by Rachel Ward and Secret of the Dragon Sanctuary by Brandon Mull.  I don’t think I’ll have time for another one as I, Elizabeth and  Dragon Sanctuary are both 500+ page books!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

First off, this is hosted by J. Kaye’s Book Blog.  If you would like to take part, just head on over and join the fun!

Last week was an interesting week.  I liked everything I read, but nothing really stands out as my favorite.  If I had to pick one, I would say Splendor by Anna Godbersen.  It was a great ending to a series I really enjoyed.  It had a completely suprising ending!

I finished off the current books in the Vampire Kisses series.  This included Dance With a Vampire, The Coffin Club, and Royal Blood.  I think The Coffin Club was my favorite.   These last three were better than the first three.   And, I read recently that there will be a Vampire Kisses book 7.

I also read Tempted by P.C. and Kristen Cast.  It was a much better book than the last one.  I do think the story is starting to get dragged out a little.  I think there’s a lot of background information and not a lot of action.  I did like then ending!  It totally blew me away.

I’m reading Grip of the Shadow Plague by Brandon Mull.  It’s part of the Fablehaven series.  I’ve loved the first two books.  I also plan on reading The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan, Beastly by Alex Flinn, and Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl if there is time!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

First off, this is hosted by J. Kaye’s Book Blog.  If you would like to take part, just head on over and join the fun!

I started off the week with Extras by Scott Westerfeld.  I was pleasantly surprised by this book.  I wasn’t sure about an add on book to what should have been a trilogy, but I actually liked it more than Specials.

I read both Kissing Coffins and Vampireville by Ellen Schreiber this week.  Still very unsure of this series.  I haven’t pinpointed what is off for me.  But, I did like Vampireville more than I liked this first two books, so maybe the series is picking up a little.

My favorite of the week was Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs.  This series just keeps getting better every book.  I didn’t think I would like a book about the Fae as much as I did.  I loved the stories about their myths and the artifacts in those stories.

I’m reading Splendor by Anna Godbersen.  Great book and a great series.  I’ll finish out the week with Dance with a Vampire by Ellen Schreiber, Tempted by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast, and The Coffin Club by Ellen Schreiber.
